The Bushnell Yardage Pro XGC+ was introduced in October 2010, but there still are only a small number of user reviews. We’ve read everything we could find for our Bushnell XGC+ Review and in spite of its mediocre GRS score, there are still some users who might want to consider buying this model.

We believe the Bushnell XGC+ offers the lowest price by a good bit of any golf GPS device with full hole views and NO membership fees. There is a small caveat to the membership fees issue… Basically, Bushnell includes a one year membership to iGolf so you can download course maps and course updates. After the first year, you don’t have to pay membership fees unless you want to download additional courses with full maps. The course maps you already have on your XGC+ will remain there. If you do decide you need more course maps, iGolf annual membership fees have typically been very low.

The Bushnell XGC+ Plus comes preloaded with basic information to over 16,000 courses. That means you can open up the box when it arrives and take it out to play without syncing it with your computer. Even better than that, it means that you can show up at a course when you haven’t had time to download it and still benefit from having your Bushnell GPS with you. Within 45 days of starting up the XGC+ for the first time, you’ll need to register it on your computer. You can then select up to 50 golf courses to download with full maps to store on your unit. Whenever you sync your device, any updates that have been made to any courses, will be downloaded. The Bushnell XGC+ also includes scorecard, statistics and shot measuring features.

Conclusion: if you’re on a tight budget and you want more than just numbers on the display, this may be the golf GPS for you. If you have a bigger budget, we suggest checking out the GolfBuddy World.

Remember there were not many reviews to consider, so most of the pros and cons listed were mentioned only two or three times each.

Our Bushnell Medalist rangefinder review is the culmination of reading customer reviews and taking notes, studying its features and comparing prices to other laser rangefinders.

Our number one takeaway from our hours of research is that the Bushnell Medalist Rangefinder with Pinseeker is an excellent value for a name brand laser golf rangefinder. Most users loved the Medalist and found it very easy to use. For golfers looking for a laser rangefinder at with a lower price point, the Bushnell Medalist should definitely be a consideration. The one comment mentioned more than any other was that it was easy to use.

The main reason that the Bushnell Medalist would not make the cut for some users is that a lower magnification level probably makes it a little more difficult to lock on to targets, particularly distant targets. The majority of reviewers didn’t find this to be a problem. However, those who complained that it was difficult to be steady enough to get a reading and those who found they had to double-check a yardage two or three times to make sure they hit the right object, would probably benefit from the stronger magnification found on more expensive models.

On thing we noticed was that this was not the first rangefinder for many of the reviews. Those moving from GPS golf rangefinders to laser noted how nice it was not to have to pay fees and deal with computer downloads. They also liked knowing that it could be used on any golf course, not just those available through the device manufacturer.

Overall the users had many more positive things than negative to say about the Bushnell Medalist, but read our list of pros and cons to see for yourself. Just FYI, the #1 “PRO” in our list was mentioned nearly five times more than the #1 “CON“.

What early reviewers like the most about this device is what you would expect – that it provides both laser and GPS yardages. Laser gives extremely accurate yardages to any target that you get in its sights. The GPS gives distances to the front, middle and back of the green, as well as various hazards and layup positions. Those types of targets are difficult, if not impossible to get with a laser. Several users said it was simple to use and the laser Pinseeker locked onto the pin quickly and easily. Those who mentioned battery life, felt it was good. Although the GPS is supposed to find the course automatically, a couple of users said they had to find it manually before they started their round. At its current price point, there is no doubt purchasers of the Bushnell Hybrid Rangefinder will have high expectations. The ratings so far indicate that it is meeting those expectations.

Golf Rangefinder Shop Impressions: Considering the GPS screen on this unit has a strong resemblance to the Bushnell neo+, we think there is a high likelihood that the ratings for this device will be very high. The Bushnell neo+ is one of the top-rated GPS devices on the market and all of the Bushnell laser rangefinders consistently rate extremely high. The price is a little higher than other Laser Rangefinders, but there are also some really great benefits of having a GPS and Laser rangerfinder all built into one!

Pros:

Laser and GPS both have their advantages and disadvantages. Put them together and…

• Currently there is no other hybrid rangefinder on the market that combines laser and GPS
• Laser is extremely acurate to an exact target… but when you can’t see the target, you formerly had to go search for a yardage marker. With GPS built into your laser rangefinder, you will only need to glance at the side of the device to get yardage.
• Having exact yardage to the pin with your laser is a great advantange, and now with GPS, you will know how much green is in front of and behind the pin. Golfers who are good managers of their games will benefit from the GPS distance to the front and back of the green combined with the exact distance to the pin.
• The GPS comes pre-loaded with over 16,000 golf courses, so it’s ready to go out of the box.
• No Membership Fees

Cons:

• Suggested Retail Price is a little steep, but we’re hoping to see online prices come in a little lower.
• There are no hole graphics and alternate targets in the GPS, although you can add your own targets.
• There are no scorecard and stats features that are common in other GPS devices.

For our Bushnell Neo+ Review, we took notes on over 40 reviews from everyday users. By far the most common theme of all the reviews was the ease of use of the Bushnell neo+. Accuracy, price and size were also common praises of this small GPS rangefinder. Notes about the Bushnell neo+ GPS rangefinder:
The neo+ is preloaded with front, center, back of the green distances and custom points (hazards) for courses throughout the United States and Canada. International courses can be download manually. The neo+ also features a high resolution screen, auto-course recognition, auto-hole advance and large text menus. Although it comes preloaded and there are no fees, it does require that you hook it up to your computer and register it within 45 days of its first GPS fix. At that time, it will update (sync) the course database.

If you’re confused because you’ve seen two very similar GPS devices with similar names on them (the iGolf GPS neo and the Bushnell neo), let us help clear it up for you.  When Bushnell got into GPS golf units in 2008, they partnered with iGolf for the GPS function in their Yardage Pro units. In 2009, the partnership was expanded as Bushnell acquired the rights to the iGolf ‘s line of handheld units. That’s when the labeling on this small unit changed from iGolf neo to the Bushnell neo. The GPS is still powered by iGolf and Bushnell has added two new products to its line, the Yardage Pro XG and the Yardage Pro XGC., both also powered by iGolf.  The neo gets good reviews under both names, but oddly enough, users have scored it higher when it’s labeled “iGolf”.  However we noticed that some reviews under one label were actually intended for the other.

Within its golf product line, Bushnell now uses this naming convention “Yardage Pro” to refer to GPS Golf Rangefinders. • Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport 450 Laser Rangefinder – this device is a best-seller because of the price point. The customer reviews aren’t nearly as enthusiastic as they are for the Pinseeker 1500, but if you have steady hands, you may still want to consider it.
• Bushnell Yardage Pro Golf Pinseeker 1500 – This unit is rated very highly by consumers and is available with and without Slope.
• Bushnell Yardage Pro Laser Rangefinders Elite 1500 – The technology on this device is more sophisticated than the Pinseeker 1500, but the price point has kept it out of the hands of the masses. Still the user reviews are strong and the prices seem to be coming down quickly.
• Bushnell Yardage Pro Scout Laser Rangefinder - From the name you can tell this unit isn’t just for golf, but it’s a compact device with excellent reviews from golfers and hunters alike.

GPS Yardage Pro Devices

• Bushnell Yardage Pro XGC Golf GPS - The “C” in “XGC” stands for color. Although Bushnell has been on top of the laser rangefinder charts  for years, they are still trying to climb their way to the top of the GPS Rangefinder list. This unit is their current bestseller and gets some very good reviews. The price might make this unit appealing, but Garmin and SkyGolf still lead the way in golf GPS.
• Bushnell Yardage Pro XG Golf GPS – If you want the basics at an affordable price, you might consider this unit. It doesn’t have color, but gives clear distances to the front, middle and back of every green. It seems fairly comparable to the more popular Garmin GolfLogix.
• Bushnell Yardage Pro Golf GPS – We suggest staying away from the earlier Bushnell  models as most reviewers were not happy with these units. Stick with the XG and XGC models until something new comes along.
