Please let me know if the WR62 watch GPS is rechargeable. It sounds like it requires new batteries after about two rounds of play.
According to a comment by L1 Technologies on their Facebook page, the WR62 golf watch is rechargeable. It’s supposed to get about 12 hours in GPS mode and a year if it were never used in GPS mode. L1 Technologies is the parent company to iGolf, which provides the GPS database of golf courses to the Expresso WR62.
That information wasn’t included in the initial specifications sheet we received, but I don’t know of any current GPS models that don’t come with a rechargeable battery.
According the Expresso Vice President of Sales & Marketing, David Alexander, the Expresso WR62 has a lithium ion battery that stays in the watch while recharging via USB. We’re guessing that’s a mini USB since Mr. Alexander also indicated that “most people have AC chargers from their cell phone, car GPS’s, etc.” that can also be used.
so when are we going to get a solar-powered or a kinetic-powered rangefinder wristwath? I mean jeez — an absolute no brainer.
Good question Mike. That would be great! What’s interesting is that you don’t see other types of fitness training GPS watches that are solar or kinetically powered either. May be that combining GPS with either would make too large a watch or wouldn’t be able to keep up with the power GPS requires. I bet it won’t be long though.
I emailed ESN about the weight and strap and here was the response:
The weight of the watch is 2.3 oz.
The clasp on the watch is a stainless steel safety clasp, it works similarly
to the butterfly clasps that Rolex uses. It will need to be custom fitted to
your wrist. One thing we recommend when custom-fitting is to size it
slightly loose to accommodate for minor wrist expansion that can occur
during activity. Also, you can always resize down, but you cannot resize up
without requiring an entirely new strap.
It says Windows/Mac. Does that mean it is only Mac compatible? and is the interface cord to computer included?
Hi Denis. It means it’s compatible with either Windows or Mac. The USB cable to connect to the computer is included.
Here are more specifics on compatibility…
PC (Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP)
Mac (OS X, version 10.6 INTEL or newer)
