The I’m Caddie golf GPS may be the most basic golf GPS device on the market.  We couldn’t find much feedback for this little unit, but the ratings are a little too low for us to recommend it.

I'm Caddie User Rating: 3.20 Stars 3.20 out of 5 (21 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

What makes the I’m Caddie different? First of all, there is no screen. Your distance to the center of the green will be delivered by a male or female voice – your choice. You won’t get distances to hazards or even to the front and back of the green. It will however, measure your shot length. We know there are plenty of golfers out there who really only want that distance to the middle of the green and no hassles from their golf GPS and who knows, this may be the ticket.

One little note: Sometimes this device is referred to as “I Am Caddie”.

I purchased this Imcaddie tour at Costco and for the price I think it’s great as a basic GPS to tell you how far you are from the center of the green. I was only able to get 1.5 rounds out of a full charge (1 18 round with cart and 1 walking same course)so charge it after 1 full 18.
The unit clips to my hat fine but the ball marker is lost easily as it is located under the clip that goes on your hat. Nice addition but not practical. I also noticed that my voice file went missing when I connected the item to my computer when charging. Not sure what caused this but the voice file is easily downloaded from the site (save it to your computer in case).
Worked as it says it should and is kinda fun on the course.

Thanks for the feedback marinesoup. We love the simplicity of these GPS devices. Strange that you lost the audio files, but glad you were able to recover them. Best of luck on your golf this summer.

  2. I’ve been using I’m Caddie for over a year. I like the simplicity of the devise. Middle of the green is all I care about. It looks a little goofy clipped to my hat. My only complaint is that if I forget to turn it on until I’m in the middle of the first fairway, it will say “no hole detected.” It won’t detect the hole and yardage until I go to the next tee box.

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

Thanks for letting us know. I think the simple is best for most players. Oh how I would love to be in the middle of every green in regulation! I can’t remember on the I’m Caddie, but most of these simple devices do have a way to navigate forward or backward, have you tried that?

  3. Roger Wilson says

    Hi there,

I have a ” I’m Caddie” which works great. But from last year’s golf season to this golf season I forgot how it works. I also cannot find my instructions. Can you give me a quick summary of how it works. Thank you so much.

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

Hi Roger. The great thing about these units is that they are simple. However, because they don’t have many buttons or labels, I can understand how you forgot how it works. Here is a link to the company “how to” page for the current version. I believe it operates exactly the same as this version. You’ll have to click on the links inside the red box to get details on your specific questions. They are not underlined, but they are links!

    Hi there,

i have used my I’m caddie for years and am very satisfied with this simple little device. Now that many courses here in Indonesia have been upgraded, added with additional nine holes I found that the device software needs to be uploaded anew. How can it be done?

  5. Lamothe John says

Hello I have a I’M caddie Tour and I woul like to know what is the number for the battery and the voltage, because mine only charge 30% of her capacity. I would like to buy a new one. Thanks

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

Hi John. I don’t think the manufacturer (Evergoing) intends for the battery to be replaced and I couldn’t find any information or batteries that claimed they would work. I have reached out to Evergoing to see if they have any suggestions, so check back here in a few days to see if they have responded.

  6. Lamothe John says

Still waiting from you a respond from Evergoing manufacturer on regards to my battery problem, I oponed it and we cannot change the battery only because they used soldering with the battery, what’s their option (TRADE FOR A NEW ONE OR ???????????)

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

Unfortunately, I haven’t heard anything back from them either. Is it still under warranty by chance?

  7. Lamothe John says

No it’s only one year and the battery 6 month’s.

  8. .Please advise how to download my courses if no date is unstalled yet,

  9. Hello, I have a iam caddie Golf range finder that has stopped working. I have charged the battery and the green light comes on. However, shortly have that there is a red blinking light. And it stops working. Is there a repair solution for this issue?

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

      Hi Eddy.

Unfortunately, I don’t know of a solution and was surprised when I went to the company website to see that it is not working. I don’t know if that’s temporary OR if they I AM CADDIE has gone out of business. My only advice is to let the battery run all the way down and then to press the power button a few times before charging again.

  10. Jim Griffiths says

What has happened with I’m Caddie?? Out of the sky it has stopped responding. It comes on and says it is “searching for a satellite”, but nothing ever happens.

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

Hi Jim. I am not sure whether your unit is the problem or if it is the fact that the company has disappeared has something to do with it. I suspect there’s a problem with your unit, but either way, there doesn’t seem to be any way to get help from the maker of these devices. As I suggested to the previous commentor, try running the battery all the way down and press the power button a few times before charging it up again. Sometimes that will clear out a problem with the device.

  12. I got a “i’m caddie” for Christmas. Going golfing today and instructions say to charge the battery – red light when charging, green when charged. I see no red (or green) light when I plug it in……….

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

Sounds like it is defective. Can you return it? I don’t know if I’m Caddies is still in business – you might want to see if you can exchange it for a different model. Here are our picks for the best clip-on golf GPS.

I returned my I’m caddie and the vendor would not replace it as the company had gone out of business. It’s kind of a ripoff

  18. Rich Gebhart says

I have one of the first gen with replaceable color tops. At least is 10+ years old and still works great, speaker is getting weak I think as it seems scratchy. Unit will not stop but I bought the Voicecaddy VC4 just in case. Used VC4 twice and it seems ok, can’t wear on bill of hat but on side or back, button sticks on bill only.

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

      Hi Rich,

Thanks for the feedback! I hope your Voicecaddy VC4 lasts as long as your I’m Caddie!

  19. Andy Brissey says

Can I replace battery in the first generation I’m caddy

    • Golf Rangefinder Shop says

      Hi Andy,
I’m not saying the battery can’t be replaced, but unfortunately, it was not intended to be replaced. I also believe I’m Caddie has gone out of business. Let us know if you figure out a solution.
