This is our Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt review, updated in October of 2017. We updated this review because even though the Tour Z6 Jolt is a few years old, we believe it’s the best rangefinder currently available WITHOUT Slope. On top of that, for the features, the price is reasonable – at the time of this writing, it’s around $329. Bushnell is no longer making the Tour Z6 Jolt, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth considering. It just means the price will likely be going up soon.

Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt User Rating:

Score compiled from multiple sources.

First, let’s take a quick look a the main features of the Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt

  • It has 6x magnification that makes acquiring distances easier and also gives you a little better look at the area around your target. The Bushnell Tour V4 only has 5x.
  • The red VDT display (Vivid Display Technology) makes it easy to read in all lighting conditions.
  • The Jolt technology causes the unit to vibrate when it’s locked onto the target, increasing user confidence.
  • The E.S.P. 2 (Extreme. Speed. Precision) technology acquires distance easily and quickly. Accurate to within 1/2 of a yard. Of course, that’s more information than any of us need!
  • Adjustable diopter.
  • Waterproof.
  • 2 Year Warranty

Below is a chart of the current competition. There is really only one model rangefinder without Slope that equals the Z6 Jolt in features and that is the Leupold GX-3i2. The other models do not have the red numbers on the display. Some are only 5x magnification and are not fully waterproof.

The second table below shows models that match the features of the Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt in the Slope category. Most of these models now can turn OFF the Slope feature making them legal under the USGA local rule permitting distance measuring devices.

Leupold GX-3i2Read Full Review

Leupold continues to develop solid performing golf laser rangefinders. The GX-3i2 has 6x magnifcation, PinHunter technology that quickly locks onto the pin, and prism-lock technology for courses that have prisms on the flag. The user adjustable red OLED is a feature we think is worth spending a little extra for and we think Fog Mode is a nice bonus feature. If you’re set on buying a laser golf rangefinder without Slope, the GX-3i2 is the best one you can buy right now.

Bushnell Tour V4 JoltRead Full Review

The Bushnell Tour V4 replaced the extremely popular Bushnell Tour V3. This model is a little bit smaller and had an easy to use focus ring. Although we think the Tour V4 is a terrific rangefinder with Jolt and Pinseeker, we think its popularity will be shared with the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift. The Shift version has Slope, but also allows you to turn it off to make it legal for most competitive events as of the 2016 rule change. If you have not interested in Slope, the Bushnell Tour V4 is an excellent choice.

TecTecTec VPRO500Read Full Review

We put the TecTecTec VPRO500 in our top picks because performance this good at a price point this low is unmatched in our opinion. We saw the incredible ratings but had to test it ourselves and it surpassed our expectations! TecTecTec may not be the best-known brand in the golf rangefinder market, but I don’t know of any of the lesser known brands that have ratings this high. This unit has 6x magnification, Pinseeker Mode, and a Scan mode. In our hands-on testing, the only issue we noticed is that it may display up to 4 yards difference when ranging the same target repeatedly. Other models in our lineup tend to be within a yard or two. If that is a concern for you, check out our Best Golf Laser Rangefinders.

Bushnell Pro X2Read Full Review

We’re very excited about the Bushnell Pro X2! Bushnell was quick to adapt to the 2016 rule modification that made rangefinders with Slope legal as long as the slope mode could be turned off for competitive rounds. The sophisticated faceplate hardware change is no longer required, so Bushnell put a simple toggle switch on the side of the unit. The Pro X2 utilizes Dual Display technology that allows the user to choose standard black or red VDT for displaying distance information. Just press the logo on the side of the rangefinder while ranging to switch modes. This unit also features 6x magnification, is fully waterproof, has Jolt technology that vibrates when it locks the pin, and it ranges accurately to within a half yard.

Leupold GX-4i2 (Slope)Read Full Review

This model used to be worth the extra money, but now it has some competition and the price is just too high to justify in most cases. We only recommend this model to those who want both the easy to read red numbers AND the ability to factor in temperature and altitude for “plays like” distance when Slope is active. Otherwise, the Bushnell Tour X will give you the red numbers OR the Leupold GX-2i2 will handle the “plays like” distance. Both of those models have Slope that can be turned off to conform with the USGA local rule.

Rating: 4.32 (53 ratings)  Magnification: 6X  Slope: both
Weight: 7.9 oz.   Legal: Yes, when the silver faceplate is attached.
