Score compiled from multiple sources.

Although many ladies wear golf watches, the GolfBuddy LD2 is the only one that is specifically designed for those looking for a more elegant style. If you are in that group, this may be the watch for you, but keep reading to find out why you may or may not want to choose the GolfBuddy LD2.

First, let’s take a look at the features of the GolfBuddy LD2 Ladies Golf Watch:
  • Distances to front/center/back of the green.
  • Distances to hazards
  • Dual shot distance measurement
  • Automatic course/hold recognition
  • GPS Odometer
  • USGA/R&A compliant – legal for handicap and tournament play
  • GolfBuddy LD2 Ladies Golf Watch Review imageSmall, lightweight, stylish, & comfortable with Swarovski® crystals in light sapphire.
  • Genuine leather strap with alligator grain
  • Premium mineral crystal lens
  • Stainless steel crown button and bezel
  • Water Resistant Watch mode (time)
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 6 hours in GPS modes or 9-weeks in standard watch mode
  • No membership or download fees

What we discovered from analyzing the feedback of dozens of users, is that most users were in one of two categories…

  • They loved the watch and its performance.
  • They experienced problems with the functioning of the watch and frequently were also unhappy with GolfBuddy customer support.

Normally, we would not even consider recommending a watch with ratings as low as those on the GolfBuddy LD2. However, since this is the only true ladies golf watch and the reviews indicate that it’s possible that you will receive a watch that works well, we have to consider that this may well be the right golf watch for some people. That said, we would only recommend this GolfBuddy ladies golf watch for the individual who doesn’t want a watch that looks like a sports watch and who also is prepared to take a chance on getting a watch that needs to be serviced or replaced.

If you still need help deciding if the GolfBuddy LD2 Ladies Golf Watch is for you, take a look at the common themes we noted in user feedback.

Score compiled from multiple sources.

Some people just feel more confident buying a well-known brand when making a purchase. However, for those willing to take a chance, there are some worthwhile contenders in the laser golf rangefinder market and the NX7 is one of them.

We took the Precision Pro Golf NX7 Rangefinder out for a couple of rounds of golf and compared it head-to-head with the Bushnell Tour V4 Standard and the TecTecTec VPro500. What we found may surprise you, but let’s start by looking at the features of the NX7.

Precision Pro NX7 Features
  • TAG or Target Acquisition Technology – to ensure you get accurate distances to the target, not what’s behind the target.
  • Accuracy – The NX7 Rangefinder is accurate within 1 yard and measures distances to the 1/10th of a yard.
  • High Speed SD Laser – picks up distance readings in under 1 second.
  • Free Battery Replacements– Although you can easily find the CR2 3V battery in any store that sells batteries, Precision Pro Golf provides free battery replacement for the life of your product.
  • Multi Distance Mode – easily switch between yards and meters depending on your unit of measure.
  • Shock-proof Design – The rugged, shock proof design helps with drops, tosses, or any other impacts you encounter on the golf course.
  • 6x Magnification – Bring the target in close with 6x magnification.
  • Water Resistance – The NX7 Rangefinder is made to survive the elements.
  • Premium Case – The premium carrying case keeps the NX7 Rangefinder safe while the elastic strap and carabiner give you options for easy access on the course.
  • 2-Year Warranty – The NX7 Rangefinder features a 2-Year Warranty for operational defects ensuring you’ll be covered down the road.
  • Tournament Legal– The NX7 Rangefinder is legal for tournaments that allow distance measuring devices.
Our Precision Pro Golf NX7 Review Notes

Plus Comparisons with Bushnell Tour V4 and TecTecTec VPRO500

  • Precision Pro NX7 Laser RangefinderLet’s start with the most important factor… The NX7 is Very accurate. Distances were generally within a yard of the Bushnell Tour V4 that we used for comparison.
  • Very consistent. Once we locked on a target, we tried it several more times to see how much it varied. The NX7 was very consistent, varying less than a yard between ranges. The Bushnell was also consistent, but the TecTecTec VPro500 bounced around a little more, sometimes as much as four yards.
  • We found ranging the flag was very easy on the NX7. To get a distance, press the power button once to turn on. You will see the crosshairs and then press the button again to begin ranging. Keep the crosshairs on the target and in about 1 second, it will display the distance to the closest object that was inside the crosshair circle while it was ranging.
  • Ranging targets like bunkers and the ground with the NX7 was little more challenging than the flag, but it works fine if you can be steady for that 1 second that it takes to lock the target. The TecTecTec VPRO500 may have a slight edge on this point, but the NX7 performed as well if not better than the Bushnell Tour V4.
  • You must make sure to keep any intermediate objects (trees or bushes) outside the crosshair circle to avoid getting the wrong distance. The only reason we mention this is that the NX7 circle may be a little larger than the other units.
  • All three of the units performed well on long range targets.
  • The NX 7 displays distance to the 1/10 of a yard. This much detail is more often found on high-end rangefinders and the only one in the comparison group that has it. Honestly, we don’t know anyone who needs that much information, but it doesn’t hurt anything once you get used to seeing it.
  • The numbers on the NX7 are large and very readable. They are in the bottom right of the viewing area, which is fine, but we prefer the bottom center location on the Bushnell. TecTecTec VPRO500 displays the distance at the top.
  • Although not the smallest unit we’ve seen, the NX7 is compact and very lightweight, slightly smaller and lighter than the Bushnell and TecTecTec models we compared.
  • The design of the NX 7 is ergonomic with a narrowing on the bottom to accommodate the placement of the thumb. All three models are comfortable, but this is our favorite design of the three.
  • The texturized rubber/plastic honeycomb pattern on the NX7 makes for a really secure grip, slightly better than the other two models.
  • NX7 Rangefinder CaseThe carrying cases on all three models are nearly identical other than color. They offer excellent protection
  • Although the appearance of a rangefinder isn’t functionally important, we prefer models that have enough color on them to stand out if placed in the front of a golf cart. Both the NX7 and the Tour V4 meet that requirement. The VPRO500 is almost all black.
  • The adjustable eyepiece allows the user to set the focus for his or her eyes. It doesn’t move so easily that it will accidentally get changed. The Tour V4 gets the edge on this feature with its Fast Focus System, but we don’t put much weight on this factor as long as it’s clear.
  • The battery compartment is easy to access and appears secure on all three models.
  • The wrist strap that came with the NX7 was not attached and to be honest it was a little tedious getting it attached and fine-point tweezers were finally employed. We are not sure how many rangefinder users actually use the strap anyway, but for those who want it, this is a one-time inconvenience.

See a side-by-side comparison chart of these three models.

Bushnell Neo Ion Golf WatchRead Full Review

Although Bushnell is known for their laser rangefinders, they really seemed to have nailed it in the golf watch category as well. They have figured out that what a majority of golfers want is not bells and whistles, but simply a comfortable golf watch that is easy to use and provides distances to greens and hazards. The Neo Ion brings the same winning formula to a smaller, lighter, and better looking golf GPS watch. Best of all, the battery life will easily go three full rounds!

Precision Pro Golf NX7 Pro Review

‘Precision Pro NX7 Pro’

Order from Amazon

This is our review of the Precision Pro Golf NX7 Pro Review.

Although there is only a $50 difference in price over it’s counterpart the NX7, the Pro version adds significant advantages.

Precision Pro NX7 Pro User Rating:
4.79 Stars 4.79 out of 5 (91 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

In our hands-on testing of the NX7 Pro, we were impressed by how quickly and easily it locked onto the flag and gave confirmation vibration. If you haven’t used a laser rangefinder with pulse vibration or Jolt technology, you might be surprised at how helpful it is. The accuracy of the NX7 Pro was good when compared with other rangefinders and consistent within a yard when rechecking the same target multiple times.

We love that it has the Slope feature that can be turned off making it legal in tournaments that allow distance measuring devices. It’s a simple button press to switch modes. The actual distance appears below the crosshairs and the adjusted distance appears above the crosshairs. Although Slope can’t be used in tournaments, we think it’s a very helpful feature in practice rounds on new courses and also for helping you train your brain to make better estimates.

Our Precision Pro Golf NX7 Pro review wouldn’t be complete without discussing how it compares to similar rangefinders from Bushnell. Our comparison is to the Bushnell Tour V4 Slope and the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift, which only differ from each other in the way you turn the Slope feature on and off.

  • The NX7 Pro has 6x magnification and both Bushnells only have 5x.
  • All three models vibrate when they lock onto the target. We love this feature on all of them.
  • Distance readings on all three models are very similar.
  • On the NX7 Pro, switching to Slope mode requires a simple button press to a button on the top center of the rangefinder. The only other action this button is used for is switching from Yards to Meters, which requires a press and hold. Since you probably won’t be switching units of measure, it’s highly unlikely that you would accidentally turn Slope on during a tournament. The advantage that the Tour V4 Shift has is you must slide a switch on the side of the unit to turn Slope on or off. You can actually look at the switch to confirm that you are not in Slope mode. The Tour V4 Slope model has actually been retired by Bushnell presumably because the Slope Mode had to be turned on or off using the same button that you use for ranging the target, thus increasing your chances of making a mistake and turning it on during a competition.
  • The difference in acquisition speed of the target was not noticeable.
  • The ease of locking onto the target is good on all three units.
  • The NX7 Pro provides measurements to the 1/10 of a yard. Although it sounds good in theory, since most golfers don’t need that much information, it isn’t really useful. In fact, when in slope mode, both the actual and adjusted number have decimal points, which makes it more difficult to make the mental calculation of how many yards uphill or downhill the shot is playing. Although it’s not a huge problem, we really wish the NX7 Pro would just round both numbers to the nearest whole number. Both Bushnell V4s display only whole numbers.
  • The NX7 Pro only displays the adjusted distance to the target, while the Bushnell Tour V4s alternate between the adjusted distance and the degree of the elevation angle. Which you prefer is a personal preference, but having both might cause a slight delay if you have to wait for the display to alternate to your preference.
  • The numbers on the NX7 Pro seem a little larger than those on the Bushnell models.
  • In Slope mode, the NX7 Pro displays the adjusted distance above the crosshairs and the Bushnell models display it below the actual yardage and a little bit smaller. It’s a minor thing, but it takes a longer to make the eye adjustment to take in both numbers on the NX7 Pro.
  • The size of all three models is nearly identical.
  • All three units do a great job of targeting on the flag and on trees. However, the Bushnell V4s may do a slightly better job of hitting ground targets.
  • All three of these models use the same 3-Volt lithium battery and will last for about a very long time. Precision Pro Golf offers free battery replacement for the life of the unit.
  • All three models have a 2-year warranty.
  • The price of the Precision Pro NX7 Pro is significantly less than either Bushnell model.

Summary: The differences between the Precision Pro Golf NX7 Pro, the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift and the Tour V4 Slope are fairly minor, which makes the NX7 Pro an amazing value. Although we recommend the NX7 Pro without reservation, we think it’s worth considering your personal preferences as well as your budget when making your decision. As golf laser rangefinders typically last for many years, you may find it worthwhile to spend the extra money if you think the Bushnell is more suited to your preferences or if you prefer their long-standing track record for making quality golf rangefinders.

TecTecTec VPRO500Learn More

It’s the combination of price and performance that puts the TecTecTec VPRO500 in our list of top rangefinders. It used to be that it felt safer to go with a well-known brand when you bought a golf rangefinder. However, when there are over 800 hundred reviews for a product and over 75% of them are 5 Stars, those concerns can be easily dismissed. Well, actually we had to see it to believe it. We purchased it from Amazon and put it to the test. We were not disappointed. It was super easy to lock on the flag, even from long distances. The unit was compact, but the numbers were large and easy to read. It was also easy to range other targets, including bunkers and the ground. The only performance issue we noticed is that it sometimes varies 3-4 yards when ranging the same target multiple times. For most golfers, that’s not really a big issue, but other rangefinders in our top picks are typically more consistent. However, they are also more expensive. If that issue is a concern for you, check out our Best Golf Rangefinders Under $200.

Precision Pro Golf NX7Learn More

We love this offering from Precision Pro Golf. The NX7 doesn’t offer any bells & whistles, but it is a solid performing laser rangefinder with 6x magnification and the price is right. It’s small and lightweight, ergonomic with a secure slip-proof grip, and has just enough bright green so you won’t accidentally leave it in the golf cart. It’s extremely accurate and measures to 1/10 of a yard, a feature usually found on more expensive models. The only thing on our wishlist for this unit is the Vibration or Jolt technology that can be found on the comparable Bushnell Tour V4. However, the V4 only has 5x magnification and it costs a lot more. For that reason, we give the edge to the Precision Pro Golf NX7.

GolfBuddy LR5Learn More

The GolfBuddy LR5 laser rangefinder has 6x magnification, scan mode, and pin mode which scans the landscape for the closest target, helping to isolate the pin from background objects. GolfBuddy is well established in the golf GPS world and will definitely make headway into the laser market with solid entries like the LR5 and the LR5S slope model. It’s the name brand and the low price point that make this model a real contender.

TecTecTec VPRODLXLearn More

You may never have heard of TecTecTec, but they have quietly been gaining serious momentum in the golf laser rangefinder market. The reason… their rangefinders are getting rave reviews and their prices are significantly lower than the bigger brands. At first glance, the difference between the TecTecTec VPRODLX and the VPRO500 doesn’t seem significant. The VPRODLX is waterproof and has a slightly longer range, but what makes it worth the money is the Distant Target Priority Mode that makes it easier to grab the pin. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly laser rangefinder, put this one on your short list!

Callaway 300 RangefinderLearn More

The Callaway 300 is a solid entry into the laser rangefinder market and we like the idea of a soft casing for a rangefinder. Although the performance is good on this model, the ratings are a little bit lower than other basic models and its price is often a little bit higher. At this price point, you may want to check out our picks for best laser rangefinders under $200.

GolfBuddy Voice 2 Review

‘GolfBuddy Voice 2’

Order from Amazon

We are currently working on our GolfBuddy Voice 2 Review but it’s not too early to say that GolfBuddy has another winner on its hands. Even if you don’t want to use the voice feature, these intuitive little devices are well worth considering.

GolfBuddy Voice 2 User Rating:
4.40 Stars 4.40 out of 5 (118 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

GolfBuddy has golf distance measuring devices in just about every category, but the one where they seem to dominate is the small voice models. This is their fourth entry into this category and with each new model, comes subtle but significant improvements. The GolfBuddy Voice 2 seems to be continuing that trend.

The predecessor to the Voice 2 was the GolfBuddy VS4 and although the Voice 2 has a nicer appearance, the size, shape, and weight are identical. In fact, there are only three differences that we noticed. The most important improvement is that the Voice 2 gets 14 hours of battery life versus only 10 hours on the VS4. That’s a really nice improvement!

We also like that the clip on the Voice 2 is built into the unit itself, where the previous model came with a clip that had to be attached. You can still get a watchband or belt clip that flips up if you prefer. The other new feature won’t make much functional difference to most users. The Voice 2 can have either a female or male voice and if you want to change it, you’ll need to make the update on your computer and then sync.

The original GolfBuddy Voice is still available, as is the VS4. Both models cost a little less than the newest model, but we think it’s well worth it to buy the GolfBuddy Voice 2 for the extra battery life.

GolfBuddy Voice 2 Notable Features
  • Audio and visual distances to front/center/back of the green
  • Automatic course and hole recognition
  • Shot measurement feature
  • Flip screen feature allows it to be viewed “right side up” when worn on your belt.
  • Rechargeable battery provides up to 14-hour battery life
  • Male/Female voice options through FREE GolfBuddy Manager Program
  • Legal for tournament play
  • Water resistant
  • Multilingual (up to 11 languages, 8 preloaded)
  • Dynamic Green View technology with distance readings from the golfer’s perspective

We don’t think you can go wrong with the GolfBuddy Voice 2, but if the voice feature isn’t important to you, you may also want to consider the Garmin Approach G10 which includes scorecard and stat-tracking.

Garmin Approach G10 Review

‘Garmin Approach G10’

Order from Amazon

Our Garmin Approach G10 Review is based upon observing common threads of criticism and praise for specific aspects of its performance.

Garmin Approach G10 User Rating:
4.42 Stars 4.42 out of 5 (97 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

After considering feedback from dozens of users, we found about 87% of the comments we considered to be relevant were positive. That number would be much higher if we were counting general praise rather than specifically mentioned features.

First, we will list the features and below that you can see a summary of the pros and cons of the Garmin G10.

Garmin Approach G10 Notable Features
  • Displays distances to the front, back and middle of the green, plus the green shape, all on the main screen.
  • Includes distances to hazards and layups.
  • Green View display shows the shape of the green and allows manual pin placements.
  • Digital scorecard lets you easily keep track of your score and stats.
  • Garmin Connect™ allows you to analyze your scores and stats online.
  • Compact, lightweight clip-on device fits anywhere.
  • Crisp, bright 1.3-inch square display.
  • Screen orientation can be adjusted depending on how you will use it.
  • Lithium-ion battery with up to 15 hours in full GPS mode.
  • Odometer to track your steps.
  • Rainproof with IPX7 water rating.
  • Preloaded with more than 40,000 golf courses around the world.
  • Free lifetime course updates.
Garmin Approach G10 Pros and Cons (Most mentioned are listed first.)
  • Accuracy – The accuracy of this unit was by far the most frequently mentioned positive comment. There was one neutral comment, but with GPS, we consider this an outstanding indicator of what you can expect from the most important job of any golf GPS.
  • Size – Most users loved the size of this very small device. There were a few people who thought it would be easier to handle if it were a little bit larger and one user who was concerned that it might be very easy to lose. If you have large hands or if you are prone to losing things, those issues are both reasonable concerns. On the other hand, if you want to clip it on your belt or keep it in your pocket, the size is great. If you are thinking of clipping it to your visor, then we suggest getting a small unit that also has voice, so that you don’t have to take it on and off all the time.
  • Value – A large number of users commented on what a good value the Garmin 10 was. A couple of users mentioned that the price would drop given the competition in this type of unit. We compared the prices to similar models and felt it was right in line.
  • Ease of Use – Many users said the G10 was very easy to use. There were a few that suggested that there was a bit of a learning curve for using some of the advanced features. None of them seemed to think it was a deal-breaker.
  • Auto Course Recognition – Most of the users who mentioned this featured thought it was quick to find golf courses. However, there were also several comments about it being a little slow. We know Garmin has a high-sensitivity receiver, but as with any GPS, the conditions can be a factor. Because of that and the fact that eventually the courses were found, we don’t suggest giving too much weight to that type of complaint.
  • Battery Life – Across the board, users had nothing but wonderful things to say about the battery life.
  • Hazard and Layup Information – Many users loved having distances to the front and back of hazards. Others said they did not use that feature, but what we thought was important was that there were no complaints about missing hazards.
  • Display – Amazingly for a unit this small, there were no complaints about the screen readability or the number size. In fact, several users went out of their way to say that it was very easy to read with “the large numbers”.
  • Shot Measuring – Quite a few users mentioned that they enjoyed this feature and used it frequently. We saw no complaints and make the assumption that this feature must be fairly easy to use based on the comments.
  • Screen Orientation – Several users who wear the G10 on their belts loved that they could change the screen orientation so that it was easy to read without touching.
  • Customer Service – A couple of users had received defective units, but in both cases, Garmin Customer Service took care of the problem quickly.

Overall we think the Garmin Approach G10 is an excellent choice if you are looking for a compact golf GPS. You can clip it on your belt, put it in your pocket, or some users even used velcro to attach it to the outside of their golf bags. Other users even clipped it to their glove! The competition in this size device is fierce, but this one is at the top of our list! However, if you are planning to clip it on your visor or hat, we still recommend using a device with Voice so you don’t have to keep pulling it off of your hat to see it.

A unit priced this low usually doesn’t get quite so many rave reviews. If the size and features match your needs, we wholeheartedly recommend this unit. There are a couple of valid complaints that you should consider, but keep in mind that almost 90% of all comments we considered relevant, were POSITIVE.

First, we will list the features and below that will be our summary of the pros and cons.

Izzo Swami 4000+ Notable Features
  • Distances to the front, middle, and back of the green is displayed on the main screen
  • Distances to hazards and doglegs
  • Pre-loaded with 30,000+ worldwide courses
  • No computer downloads or annual subscription required
  • Large, vibrant, easy to read 1.8” color display
  • Course map editing feature
  • Auto-hole advance
  • Shot distance measurement
  • Supports 4 different languages
  • Displays distances in yards or meters
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery – lasts up to two rounds
  • Durable and waterproof
  • 1 year limited warranty
Izzo Swami 4000+ Pros and Cons (Most mentioned are listed first.)
  • Accuracy – There were a huge number of users who felt the Swami 4000+ was extremely accurate and not one who complained about the accuracy. That is almost unheard of in golf GPS.
  • Value – Again, many of the reviewers felt this was an amazing value and none complained.
  • Ease of Use – Lots of praise and no complaints.
  • Battery Life – Quite a few users mention that the battery life was good and we saw no complaints.
  • Hazards and Doglegs – This was a popular feature, however, there were a few complaints that there were not enough hazards listed.
  • Auto Hole Advance – This is the top complaint for the Swami 4000+, but no one considers it a deal-breaker. The auto hole advance on the Swami 4000+ only works if you take the unit onto the green with you. The upside to this flaw is that it a simple button press to manually move to the next hole.
  • Screen Readability – Of the users that mentioned the display and readability, most loved it. However, there were a couple that thought it wasn’t great in bright sunlight.
  • # of Courses – Most users that mentioned this were happy with the number of courses. There were, however, several mentions of a course not being in the database. Most users who had reached out to Izzo to have a course added were successful, but there was a delay of several weeks.
  • Compared to Competion – Both in accuracy and value, quite a few users were happy with comparisions to other golf GPS models.
  • Auto Course Recognition – Most people were satisfied in the the amount of time it took to find a course, but there were a couple of comments on it take a little longer than the user thought it should.
  • Charges Fast – Quite a few users mentioned that this device charges quickly and we saw no complaints.
  • Size – Although one user wished it was even larger, the rest of the comments about the size of the unit were very positive.
  • Customer Service – A few users were pleased with the responsiveness of customer service and a couple were unhappy. Editor’s Note: We noticed that for many of the complaints we saw, Izzo had reached out encouraging the user to call for help. Here’s the number in case you ever need it! (800) 777-7899.
  • Problems with the Clip – There were a few users who had trouble with the screw on the belt clip coming out and either being lost or stripped. We did see Izzo offer to replace those parts for free.

Overall, we think this a terrific golf GPS and love the size of it for people who have trouble seeing the smaller displays. We’re thrilled that Izzo added hazards to this model. We wish the Auto Hole Advance worked without carrying it to the green, but consider that a minor inconvenience.

Leupold GX-2i2 Review

‘Leupold GX-2i2 ‘

Order from Amazon

There isn’t enough feedback yet for us to do our complete Leupold GX-2i2 Review. However we want to outline the features and give you our initial thoughts on Leupold’s newest rangefinder.

Leupold GX-2i2 User Rating:
4.22 Stars 4.22 out of 5 (13 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The are two reasons we really like the Leupold GX-2i2. First, it’s one of two laser rangefinders on the market that have the ability to easily switch between having Slope turned on or being completely legal for any tournament using the USGA local rule. Second, of those two units, this one has the better price (compared with the Bushnell Tour V4 Slope)

Besides that, the Leupold GX-2i2 has some interesting bells and whistles with it’s TGR® and Club Selector™ features (see features below). If you’re a bit of a geek you will surely love these features and if you’re not, you can just ignore them.

Leupold GX-2i2 Notable Features
  • True Golf Range™ (TGR®) – Uses elevation, altitude, temperature, and other atmospheric conditions to estimate a “plays like” distance.
  • Club Selector™ – makes club recommendations based on the True Golf Range (TGR®) of your shot and the distances you have previously entered for your 8, 6 and 4 irons.
  • PinHunter 2™ – filters out background images and makes zeroing-in on the target faster and easier.
  • Weatherproof – Not only is it durable and waterproof, it has Fog Mode that will improve accuracy when you play in foggy conditions.
  • Prism Lock – combined with PinHunter 2 makes “locking on” faster than ever before. You get an audible tone when the rangefinder finds the prism, and the distance is immediately displayed.
  • One Touch Scan Mode – provides multiple readings in one quick sweep.
  • USGA Legal (local rule) – An easy On/OFF menu choice to quickly disable all non-compliant features.

Bushnell Neo Ion Review

‘Bushnell Neo Ion Golf Watch’

Order from Amazon

Our Bushnell Neo Ion Review is based upon lots of user feedback. We look for common themes, whether they are praise or complaints and summarize our findings.

Bushnell Neo Ion Golf Watch User Rating:
4.47 Stars 4.47 out of 5 (137 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

Although there are golf watches that do much more than the Bushnell Neo Ion, this is the golf watch that we believe most golfers should buy! It is simple to use, provides distances to the front, middle, and back of the greens, as well as hazards. In our experience, that is the information that most golfers need and want on their golf watches.

Don’t get us wrong, we love the Garmin golf watches that have smartwatch features and fitness trackers built in, but for the basics, the Bushnell Neo Ion is our top pick!

Let’s start with the Neo Ion’s key features:
  • Pre-loaded with 35,000+ courses from 30 countries
  • Outstanding Battery Life will last three full rounds
  • Auto course recognition and auto hole advance
  • Up to 4 Hazard/Layup distances per hole
  • Shot distance calculator
  • Comfortable dual injected silicone sports band
  • Round odometer
  • No membership or download fees

Let’s just say the ratings on this golf watch are excellent – among the best we’ve seen for a golf watch. Bushnell doesn’t get fancy with a touchscreen or graphics, but they continue to make significant improvements with each new golf watch they release. Full battery indicator for Bushnell Neo Ion

The best part of the Bushnell Neo Ion is the battery life. This was the most talked about feature and users loved they could play three full rounds before charging it.

Accuracy in golf GPS devices is often misunderstood and very difficult to compare. The reason is that there are multiple factors that determine the accuracy of the distances, which means that each user’s experience in any given situation may be different. Therefore, most of the time we’ll find both positive and negative comments regarding accuracy. Amazingly, we haven’t heard anything negative about the accuracy of the Bushnell Neo Ion’s accuracy. We’re not saying it will always be perfect, just that there were lots of positive comments and zero negative comments in the feedback we reviewed.

Besides battery life, we think “ease of use” should be the biggest factor in choosing a golf GPS. There was no shortage of positive comments on the subject and again, not even one negative. With that said, there were several users who complained that there were only two hazards or layups listed per hole. Most likely the reason for the complaint is that these users didn’t know how to scroll down to the second page. (FYI: the button on the bottom right of the watch will do it!)

Users really like the look of the Bushnell Neo Ion and felt it improved their games. They overall felt great about the value and also the number of courses.

There weren’t all that many complaints about the Bushnell Neo Ion, but several people did mention that the Auto Course Recognition was slow. After it found the course, there no complaints about the responsiveness.

A few users had defective units and a couple of those users were unhappy with the customer service. There were also a few complaints about the durability of the watchband. Several users also struggled with getting the charging clip connected. I don’t believe any of them considered that a deal breaker, but rather were wishing it was a little easier.

Keep in mind that 80% of the user feedback was positive. We think this is an excellent choice and as of this writing, are putting it at the top of recommended golf watches list.

TecTecTec VPRO500 Review

‘TecTecTec VPRO500’

Order from Amazon

Our TecTecTec VPRO500 review is based on a hands-on test and the feedback of over 100 users. We track the pros and cons mentioned to see if there are common threads to help determine the strengths and weaknesses of every product we review.

TecTecTec VPRO500 User Rating:
4.50 Stars 4.50 out of 5 (848 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

After our hands-on testing of this unit, we can confirm that it’s our pick for the best value in a laser golf rangefinder. Oftentimes, we have found less expensive rangefinders don’t lock onto distant targets very easily, but that is not the case with the TecTecTec VPRO500.

We found it easy to use even at very long distances. Changing from Scan to Pinsensor mode was simple, as was changing from yards to meters. It feels well built and it has larger numbers than most rangefinders. We give this model a big thumWith a price point this low and hundreds of five-star reviews, you would be crazy not to consider buying the TecTecTec VPRO500 laser rangefinder.

bs up!

Below is our summary of the common themes we learned when considering user feedback.

TecTecTec VPRO500 Review Summary – PROS
  • Accuracy – This is by far the most frequently mentioned comment by users. That is typical in laser rangefinders because unless you have a defective model, they are all accurate to within two yards.
  • Price – It’s not a surprise that users love the price. It’s by far the least expensive, highly rated laser rangefinder on the market.
  • TecTecTec VPRO500 Golf Laser RangefinderEase of Use – Although this is the third most mentioned comment on the PROS list, it’s also worth mentioning that it’s the top complaint as well. There are twice as many who say it’s easy to use as there are those on the other side, but this is typically where we see negative comments in all laser rangefinders. Generally what users are describing is that it is difficult to hit the correct target and feel confident in the distance. It is our belief that if you have a reasonably steady hand and a little patience, you can probably learn to use any laser rangefinder. If you don’t, you probably want to step up to one of the rangefinders that we have rated at over 4.6. Those are the ones that have proven themselves easiest to use.
  • Another common thread was that the TecTecTec V500Pro measured up to the name brands very well.
  • The size, weight, and grip were also mentioned as a positive over and over again.
  • Here are a few other positive comments that we saw mentioned fairly frequently: improves your game; good customer service; well-built; scan mode; and clarity.
TecTecTec VPRO500 Review Summary – CONS
  • Ease of Use – As mentioned above, this is the observation that sets a top laser rangefinder apart from one that is really good. Although the TecTecTec VPRO500 gets many compliments on being easy to use, it also gets some negative comments. (We still think that it measures up to other big name rangefinders with similar specifications.)
  • Other occasionally mentioned negative themes were: it didn’t measure up to the competition; quality; and customer service. One thing we noticed in reading reviews is that every negative review received a response from TecTecTec with an email address encouraging the user to reach out to the company. We don’t know what follow-up was like after that point, but it seems worth mentioning that their customer service department is at least being proactive.

To be honest, the reviews impressed us enough that we’ve decided it’s worthy of a hands-on review comparison with Bushnell and Callaway. We’ll let you know the results!

Note: This device is also available with Slope.

Swami Sport GPS Review

‘Izzo Swami Sport’

Order from Amazon

Our Swami Sport GPS Review will be completed in the coming weeks, but at first glance we think this unit looks like a great fit for a select set of golfers. First of all, the price is right for anyone on a budget. Secondly, we love the way this unit is designed to clip onto a golf bag. Honestly, other than having a golf watch on your wrist, we think clipping a GPS right on your bag is the most convenient place to have it. The bold, bright color will ensure that you don’t have trouble spotting it!

Izzo Swami Sport User Rating:
3.46 Stars 3.46 out of 5 (138 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The unit displays distance to the center in a large font and the distances to front and back in a medium sized font. The hole number, par and time of day are in a small font, but it’s nice that everything shows on the main screen. As the long is it changes holes automatically, there wouldn’t be any need to touch the unit during the round. However, in some Izzo devices, we’ve found that if left in a cart away from the green, the auto hole advance does not work. On this unit, it looks like easy enough to change holes manually with the press of a button.

It’s certainly small enough to carry in your pocket, but accidental button presses could be a problem.

Izzo continues to put out quality low cost golf GPS units that deliver simplicity and accuracy, so we’re anxious to put this one to the test.

The Breaking 80 Max 400 gets a lot of really great reviews from users who can’t believe they get the same accuracy as other laser rangefinders for significantly less money. If there’s a down side, it’s that some users report struggling to acquire distance to the right target. It’s a low percentage, but slightly higher than on more expensive rangefinders.

GolfBuddy WT3 Review

‘GolfBuddy WT3 Watch’

Order from Amazon

We’re still evaluating user reviews, but we are expecting the GolfBuddy WT3 will be near the top of our charts when it’s all said and done. The only negative we’ve heard so far is that it’s a little bulky, which is true of most golf GPS watches. This may not be the smallest, but it is packed with more features than the Bushnell neo-XS, which claims to be the smallest.

GolfBuddy WT3 Watch User Rating:
4.08 Stars 4.08 out of 5 (103 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The WT3 not only provides distances to the front, back and center of every green, it has dynamic green view which shows you the shape of the green in relation to where you are standing and allows manual pin positioning for more accurate distance. It also has distances to water hazards, bunkers and trees. We appreciate the scorecard feature, but wish it also allowed stat tracking. As with most golf watches, it has a shot measuring feature. Of course, the best feature of all… is the price!
