We suggest the 2-pack so that you can carry a spare in your bag! These Energizer batteries are very reasonably priced on Amazon.

Our Bushnell Tour V4 Shift Review will be coming soon, but here are our initial thoughts…

Bushnell Tour V4 Shift User Rating: 4.48 Stars 4.48 out of 5 (90 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

Our first look at the specs had us wondering what the difference was between the Tour V4 Slope and the new Tour V4 Shift. Overall, these units are almost identical. The size, shape, and weight are the same. They both have Pinseeker, Jolt, 5x magnification, and the ability to easily switch out of Slope mode to become legal for tournament play.

The difference is simply a change to the Slope switch. It’s small, but quite significant. On the V4 Slope, you simply pushed the Bushnell logo on the side of the unit to switch Slope mode on or off. The new V4 Shift changes the switch to a slider that covers up the word “SLOPE” when Slope mode is disabled. That does two things:

  1. allows your fellow competitors, opponents, and rules officials to see that you’re using a legal rangefinder
  2. keeps you from any uncertainty once you’ve teed off in competition. You don’t want to have to look into the viewer and shoot a target only to find out you had left the Slope mode turned on.

For that reason, if you ever compete in events where rangefinders are allowed, we definitely would pick the V4 Shift over the V4 Slope.

Bushnell has a long tradition of producing the highest-rated golf rangefinders on the market. We expect the Tour V4 Shift will be no different. In fact, we expect this model to become the best-selling golf laser rangefinder with Slope within a few months.

Bushnell Tour V4 Shift Features
  • Slope Switch – Allows you to use the Slope feature when you’re playing for fun and legally turn it off when you’re in competition. With Slope turned on, you can see the degree of elevation and an estimate of how much shorter or longer a shot will play.
  • Pinseeker Jolt Technology – This gives a visual indication on the screen, plus a vibration when it is locked onto it’s target.
  • Magnification: 5x
  • Accuracy: measures to within 1 yard.
  • Fast Focus
  • Stable-Grip

Our Bushnell Pro X2 Review was updated in October 2017 and our impression got even better!

We think the Bushnell Pro X2 is likely the best laser golf rangefinder ever built.
You’ll pay more for this model than other Bushnell models, but far less than the Leupold GX-5i3 which has comparable features. In addition to testing this model on the golf course, we read dozens of user reviews across the web looking for positive and negative themes. Most of the comments turned out to be positive and the very few negative ones were never mentioned more than once. Many users said they felt the Bushnell Pro X2 was well worth the money.

Bushnell Pro X2 User Rating: 4.77 Stars 4.77 out of 5 (112 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.
Here are the Bushnell Pro X2 Notable Features:
  • Slope-Switch Technology – easily turn slope on or off, making it legal for competitions allowing distance measuring devices.
  • Dual Display Technology – handy button on the side to toggle the red VDT with black depending on conditions. We observed that users really love this easy to use feature. Many also commented on the clarity of display.
  • Accurate to a 1/10th of a yard – we consider that too much information, but fortunately, you can turn off the decimal points if you prefer. Accuracy and ease of use were mentioned more frequently than anything else in all the reviews we read.
  • PinSeeker with JOLT Technology – vibrates when you lock onto the pin. This is a favorite feature for many users and our reviewers as well. It really does seem to impact the speed at which your brain understands that you’ve got the right number in your sights!
  • 2nd Generation E.S.P. – acquires the target quickly. This speed of target acquisition was mentioned frequently in user reviews.
  • Fully Waterproof (IPX7) – Most rangefinders are only water resistant, so we are happy to see this improvement.
  • Range: 5-1300 Yds; 450+ Yds to a Flag.
  • Magnification: 6x. Okay, we concede that 7x would be even better, but no one is making 7x models anymore.
  • Fast Focus System – a focus ring on the eyepiece makes it easy and fast to adjust the focus.
  • Stable-Grip Technology – the rubber grip over the metal housing gives you a solid grip.
  • Rubber Armored Metal Housing – very durable. The Pro X2 definitely feels sturdy and well built.

Bushnell Pro X2 Review Summary

Accuracy and ease of use were the most common themes mentioned by users and we fully agree. Many users felt the Bushnell X2 was superior to other laser rangefinders they had tried and we can’t remember one that we like as much. Jolt technology, slope switch, and the dual display technology were also mentioned frequently as favorite features. Users liked the size and the speed and many mentioned that it has helped improve their scores.

In conclusion, if the Bushnell Pro X2 fits in your budget, we highly recommend you order it today! With all of its features, we can’t imagine that you’ll ever want to replace it just for something newer and better. If it has the typical longevity of other Bushnell’s, you should get many years of use from it. If it’s not in your budget, don’t despair,
there are plenty of solid-performing laser rangefinders that shouldn’t break the bank!

This is our Bushnell TourV4 with Slope Review. If you are looking for the Standard model, see our Bushnell Tour V4 Review.

Bushnell Tour V4 Slope User Rating: 4.37 Stars 4.37 out of 5 (93 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The Bushnell Tour V4 with Slope ushered in a new era in laser golf rangefinders. This is wholly the result of the USGA changing the rule about devices that measure conditions that are not allowed under the rules.

Here is a little history… Formerly, any device that measured anything that wasn’t allowed (such as Slope), was considered a violation of the rules. In an effort to make things easier for golfers who wanted to use Slope sometimes but not all the time, Leupold and Bushnell managed to get USGA approval of devices that could turn on the Slope feature by attaching a brightly colored faceplate. That way, it was easy for a rules official or fellow competitor to see if Slope was being used. (See Bushnell Tour X and Leupold GX-4i2)

Now, the USGA has made a provision that does allow these devices to be used, as long as those features that are against the rules are not used. The new rule doesn’t even require a faceplate or anything to make it obvious. It’s back to the honor system.

The problem for older rangefinders with Slope is they do not have the ability to turn off the Slope feature. Thus a new era arrives and the Bushnell Tour V4 is one of the first to add the ability to simply change the mode and turn off the Slope. It’s much easier and quicker than attaching a faceplate and likely less expensive to manufacture.

So back to our Bushnell Tour V4 Slope Review…

Bushnell Tour V4 Slope Notable Features
  • Slope AND USGA Legal – The best of both worlds… Slope when you need it or turn it off when it’s not allowed.
  • PinSeeker with JOLT – provides short vibrating pulses to give a tactile confirmation that the laser has locked onto the flag.
  • 5x Magnification – brings the target in closer.
  • Fast focus system – allows you to change the focus easily with your index finger.
  • Ergonomic design with Stabi-Grip technology – more comfortable and secure grip.
  • Water resistant – no worries if you play in the rain.
  • 2 Year warranty
  • 3-Volt CR2 battery and premium carry case included

Although the ratings for the Bushnell Tour V4 with Slope are pretty good, Bushnell replaced this unit very quickly with a nearly identical model, the Tour V4 Shift. We believe the reason was because the menu for switching in and out of Slope mode was confusing to some users. To switch modes, you press and hold the Power/Fire button and it cycles through four options* and you release when it’s on the option you wish to use. If you understand how to use it, then no problem. So on the newer “Shift” model, there is simply a switch on the side of the unit that you slide up or down to change in and out of Slope mode. Just from looking at the switch, you can tell which mode you are using.

That said, we think the Bushnell Tour V4 with Slope is an excellent golf rangefinder. If the issue above doesn’t matter to you, you may want to compare the price of these two rangefinders!

We scoured dozens of user reviews and observed the most common likes and dislikes about the Bushnell Tour V4 Slope model and by far the positive comments outweighed the negative comments. One thing we noticed that many reviewers were using a rangefinder with Slope for the first time and they really enjoyed having the feature available. Here’s what else we found…

Bushnell Tour V4 Pros (positive comments in order of frequency mentioned)
  • Accuracy – Most users felt it was very accurate.
  • Ease of Use – This was a very common theme.
  • Slope – Many users discovered how helpful the Slope feature was.
  • Size / Weight – The lightweight compact size was mentioned frequently.
  • Improves Game – A common theme was about how it helped improve scoring.
  • Speed – Quite a few users commented on how quick the unit locked onto the target.
  • Clarity – Several users mentioned the clarity of what they were seeing.
  • Value – Several users mentioned that it was well worth the price.
Bushnell Tour V4 Cons (negative comments in order of frequency mentioned)
  • Accuracy / Pinseeker – A few users felt that they were unable to get accurate readings.
  • Slope Menu – One user disliked the Slope Menu that we mentioned earlier and felt that it made it too easy to accidentally switch into Slope mode in a competition.
