Early on, as were doing our Bushnell Phantom 2 Review, we knew we had a top contender!

Bushnell Phantom 2 User Rating: 4.55 Stars 4.55 out of 5 (435 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The Bushnell Phantom 2 is the perfect golf GPS for 95% of the golfers we serve. Out of the box, it’s ready to go and has everything you need with no fuss. You turn it on and it finds the course and the hole and is typically ready for play in less than a minute.

The large font and transreflective display make it easy to see in all conditions. The new stronger and larger BITE magnet holds firmly to your cart. If you’re walking, the included belt clip or carabiner make it easy to find distances when you need them.

We love the new GreenView feature for lower handicappers wanting to get more precise distance to the pin location. Bushnell has also increased the number of hazards and alternate targets that can be shown on any given hole to six.

Although, the Phantom 2 has a manual shot measuring feature, it leaves the rest of the stats and scorekeeping for the Bushnell Golf App, which is fine by us. Using a Bluetooth connection to your phone, you can also update individual golf courses if should ever need to do so.

You can definitely play several rounds before charging the Phantom 2 which gets up to 18 hours of play. And, we love that it charges in less than 3 hours using the included USB-C cable.

If you’re looking for graphic hole views with touch targeting, you’ll need to jump into a more expensive category, but as we noted earlier, the Bushnell Phantom 2 is all most golfers will need for a hassle-free golf GPS rangefinder.

Comments

  1. I’ve had trouble with unit from the start. Tried to get help from Bushnell a few times, but they just don’t help. Sorry for the purchase.

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. We really like the Phantom 2. What type of issues are you having?

  2. I find that there is no way to correct either the device being on the wrong hole or simply wanting to go back or forward to/from a different hole when i try to keep score.. Or escape. So it gets stuck somewhere and I can’t get to my current hole. It takes too much effort clicking and clicking and looking. Straight use just for distances it’s fine. There is no instruction in manual for any of this.

  3. Since I took it out of the box The yardage indicated is not accurate at all . It can range from 4 to 7 yards short when I am atanding on the 150 yard marker in the center of the fairway. Can this recalibrated? I have rebooted it several times

Just to make sure, you are checking the actual distances to the center of the green and not the flag, right? If so, you might try to update the courses you are playing using the instructions on page 9 of the User Manual.

Your unit may be defective and if you think so, you can reach out to Bushnell Support. Although GPS is fairly accurate, I often see readings off as much as 10 yards – on all sorts of devices. It seems the more trees on a hole, the more likely you’ll get a reading that is off. For the best accuracy, I recommend a laser rangefinder. Keep the GPS for times when you can’t see your target.
