Precision Pro Golf NX7 User Rating: 4.54 Stars 4.54 out of 5 (3043 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

Some people just feel more confident buying a well-known brand when making a purchase. However, for those willing to take a chance, there are some worthwhile contenders in the laser golf rangefinder market and the NX7 is one of them.

We took the Precision Pro Golf NX7 Rangefinder out for a couple of rounds of golf and compared it head-to-head with the Bushnell Tour V4 Standard and the TecTecTec VPro500. What we found may surprise you, but let’s start by looking at the features of the NX7.

Precision Pro NX7 Features
  • TAG or Target Acquisition Technology – to ensure you get accurate distances to the target, not what’s behind the target.
  • Accuracy – The NX7 Rangefinder is accurate within 1 yard and measures distances to the 1/10th of a yard.
  • High Speed SD Laser – picks up distance readings in under 1 second.
  • Free Battery Replacements– Although you can easily find the CR2 3V battery in any store that sells batteries, Precision Pro Golf provides free battery replacement for the life of your product.
  • Multi Distance Mode – easily switch between yards and meters depending on your unit of measure.
  • Shock-proof Design – The rugged, shock proof design helps with drops, tosses, or any other impacts you encounter on the golf course.
  • 6x Magnification – Bring the target in close with 6x magnification.
  • Water Resistance – The NX7 Rangefinder is made to survive the elements.
  • Premium Case – The premium carrying case keeps the NX7 Rangefinder safe while the elastic strap and carabiner give you options for easy access on the course.
  • 2-Year Warranty – The NX7 Rangefinder features a 2-Year Warranty for operational defects ensuring you’ll be covered down the road.
  • Tournament Legal– The NX7 Rangefinder is legal for tournaments that allow distance measuring devices.

Plus Comparisons with Bushnell Tour V4 and TecTecTec VPRO500

  • Precision Pro NX7 Laser RangefinderLet’s start with the most important factor… The NX7 is Very accurate. Distances were generally within a yard of the Bushnell Tour V4 that we used for comparison.
  • Very consistent. Once we locked on a target, we tried it several more times to see how much it varied. The NX7 was very consistent, varying less than a yard between ranges. The Bushnell was also consistent, but the TecTecTec VPro500 bounced around a little more, sometimes as much as four yards.
  • We found ranging the flag was very easy on the NX7. To get a distance, press the power button once to turn on. You will see the crosshairs and then press the button again to begin ranging. Keep the crosshairs on the target and in about 1 second, it will display the distance to the closest object that was inside the crosshair circle while it was ranging.
  • Ranging targets like bunkers and the ground with the NX7 was little more challenging than the flag, but it works fine if you can be steady for that 1 second that it takes to lock the target. The TecTecTec VPRO500 may have a slight edge on this point, but the NX7 performed as well if not better than the Bushnell Tour V4.
  • You must make sure to keep any intermediate objects (trees or bushes) outside the crosshair circle to avoid getting the wrong distance. The only reason we mention this is that the NX7 circle may be a little larger than the other units.
  • All three of the units performed well on long range targets.
  • The NX 7 displays distance to the 1/10 of a yard. This much detail is more often found on high-end rangefinders and the only one in the comparison group that has it. Honestly, we don’t know anyone who needs that much information, but it doesn’t hurt anything once you get used to seeing it.
  • The numbers on the NX7 are large and very readable. They are in the bottom right of the viewing area, which is fine, but we prefer the bottom center location on the Bushnell. TecTecTec VPRO500 displays the distance at the top.
  • Although not the smallest unit we’ve seen, the NX7 is compact and very lightweight, slightly smaller and lighter than the Bushnell and TecTecTec models we compared.
  • The design of the NX 7 is ergonomic with a narrowing on the bottom to accommodate the placement of the thumb. All three models are comfortable, but this is our favorite design of the three.
  • The texturized rubber/plastic honeycomb pattern on the NX7 makes for a really secure grip, slightly better than the other two models.
  • NX7 Rangefinder CaseThe carrying cases on all three models are nearly identical other than color. They offer excellent protection
  • Although the appearance of a rangefinder isn’t functionally important, we prefer models that have enough color on them to stand out if placed in the front of a golf cart. Both the NX7 and the Tour V4 meet that requirement. The VPRO500 is almost all black.
  • The adjustable eyepiece allows the user to set the focus for his or her eyes. It doesn’t move so easily that it will accidentally get changed. The Tour V4 gets the edge on this feature with its Fast Focus System, but we don’t put much weight on this factor as long as it’s clear.
  • The battery compartment is easy to access and appears secure on all three models.
  • The wrist strap that came with the NX7 was not attached and to be honest it was a little tedious getting it attached and fine-point tweezers were finally employed. We are not sure how many rangefinder users actually use the strap anyway, but for those who want it, this is a one-time inconvenience.

See a side-by-side comparison chart of these three models.
