Our Garmin Approach S2 Review will be available as soon as we get some customer feedback on the latest golf watch from Garmin. If the success of the previous two offerings from Garmin are any indication, the Approach S2 is likely to be found on or near the top of our ratings leaderboard in no time.

Garmin Approach S2 User Rating: 4.41 Stars 4.41 out of 5 (924 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The Garmin Approach S2 should hit the sweet spot with both price and features for many users. Like the Garmin S3, the S2 will have distances to doglegs and layups, as well as the digital scorecard. It does not include the touchscreen or manual pin positioning, but the price difference will make that an easy choice for many golfers.

Over the past two years, golf GPS watches have become really popular among golfers, we think largely because of the convenience. There have also been millions of downloads of Smartphone golf GPS apps. We believe that is due to the low price of apps and the many features available. Now there is a watch that is utilizes your smartphone to do things other watches do not do and the Pebble E-Paper Watch will include an app that turns it into a GPS golf watch

Pebble E-Paper Watch User Rating: 3.80 Stars 3.80 out of 5 (2804 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The Pebble Smart Watch connects via Bluetooth to your iPhone or Android smartphone to bring some pretty cool features to your wrist. There is no question that being able to change the face of the watch easily and with potentially unlimited choices, is fun, but there is function in this watch too.

It’s also capable of integrating with apps on your phone. Although there are only a few apps today, developers will likely be bringing new ones online all the time. Fortunately, for golfers, runners, cyclist and music lovers, there are apps ready to go.

The free Pebble golf app utilizes FreeCaddie and includes distances to the front, center, and back of the green and has 25,000+ courses preloaded. For the nominal one-time fee of $5.99, bunkers and water hazards are available in FreeCaddiePro.

In our opinion, it’s a slick looking watch, especially when compared with most GPS golf watches. We love the apps that are already available for it, and can’t wait to see what lies in its future. Our only concern is the choice of FreeCaddie as the partner for the golf GPS component. Their reviews on the iTunes store aren’t as strong as we would like to see, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some other companies develop an app for this watch very soon.

Our Voice Caddie VC200 Review will be available shortly. Until then, let’s take a look at the specs and see how we think it will stack up against the competition.

Voice Caddie VC200 User Rating: 4.42 Stars 4.42 out of 5 (117 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.
Voice Caddie VC200 Notable Features
  • Provides voice/audio distances to the middle of every green.
  • Measures shot distances.
  • Preloaded with approximately 30,000 courses worldwide. Nearly 10,000 in the United States
  • Auto Course Recognition
  • Auto Hole Advance
  • Has a metronome for practicing swing rhythm
  • Comes with 7 different languages
  • Super small and will clip easily onto a belt or visor
  • It’s available in black or white
  • The price is right

Aside from the metronome, we don’t really see any features that set the Voice Caddie VC200 apart. The competition comes from I’m Caddie and Golf Buddy Voice. On features alone, the Voice Caddie VC200 does not measure up and the low price probably isn’t low enough to make up for the shortcomings. However we hope to give it a fair shot by taking it out for a test.

In the mean time, we suggest you look at the Golf Buddy Voice. It has several features that we think are important and the price is competitive with the VC200 or the I’m Caddie. Besides that, user feedback on Golf Buddy’s talking GPS has been excellent.

Our SkyCaddie BREEZE Review Summary will be available after the units are shipped in October 2012 and users have had a chance to review them.

Our first glance at the specs and features has us shaking our heads and wanting to send you straight over to our Best GPS for Golf article.

SkyCaddie Breeze User Rating: 4.17 Stars 4.17 out of 5 (6 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

We keep hoping SkyCaddie will get the message that golfers don’t want to pay annual fees and deal with downloading golf courses each time they decide to play a new course. When we saw the name “BREEZE”, we though for sure this would be the one. But no, not only are there annual fees, but SkyCaddie offers other ways to increase the price of their latest GPS rangefinder, by offering “Feature Packs”.

Here’s how it works… The SkyCaddie BREEZE comes preloaded with “up to 30,000” golf courses. However, the only information it provides is distance to the front, middle and back of every green. The screen looks to be bright and the numbers are big. It has a shot measuring feature and a one-player scorecard feature. That’s about it for the unit unless you choose to spend the money for an Feature Pack or two or three.

Even though it’s extremely basic in features, you still must purchase an annual membership. It’s not totally clear what membership packages will be for the SkyCaddie BREEZE without any of the Feature Packs, but we think $19.99 annually. If you pay for the Feature packs, the annual fees may be even higher. The membership fees for the SkyCaddie SGX are in the $30 – $60 range, so that would be our guess.

From where we sit, if you want a basic golf GPS, skip the SkyCaddie Breeze and look at the Golf Buddy Tour or the Bushnell neo+. Neither one has any fees, plus you’ll get distances to hazards and you’ll definitely pay less for the device.

SkyCaddie offers three different “Feature Packs” and so far, we don’t see any pricing information. Even if they were free, we’d still be unlikely to recommend the SkyCaddie BREEZE. Besides annual fees, you have to download the courses if you want the extra features. There are several full-featured GPS devices available that come preloaded with full hole layouts and never charge any fees. The Garmin Approach G6 may be a little more expensive on the front end, but by the time you pay fees and buy Upgrade Packs, it’s probably similar in price… and you won’t have to deal with decisions and downloads. You just buy it, charge it and go play golf.

The I’m Caddie golf GPS may be the most basic golf GPS device on the market.  We couldn’t find much feedback for this little unit, but the ratings are a little too low for us to recommend it.

I'm Caddie User Rating: 3.20 Stars 3.20 out of 5 (21 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

What makes the I’m Caddie different? First of all, there is no screen. Your distance to the center of the green will be delivered by a male or female voice – your choice. You won’t get distances to hazards or even to the front and back of the green. It will however, measure your shot length. We know there are plenty of golfers out there who really only want that distance to the middle of the green and no hassles from their golf GPS and who knows, this may be the ticket.

One little note: Sometimes this device is referred to as “I Am Caddie”.

I’m Caddie Notable Features:
