Our Bushnell Medalist rangefinder review is the culmination of reading customer reviews and taking notes, studying its features and comparing prices to other laser rangefinders.

Our number one takeaway from our hours of research is that the Bushnell Medalist Rangefinder with Pinseeker is an excellent value for a name brand laser golf rangefinder.

Bushnell Medalist User Rating: 4.52 Stars 4.52 out of 5 (399 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

Most users loved the Medalist and found it very easy to use. For golfers looking for a laser rangefinder at with a lower price point, the Bushnell Medalist should definitely be a consideration. The one comment mentioned more than any other was that it was easy to use.

The main reason that the Bushnell Medalist would not make the cut for some users is that a lower magnification level probably makes it a little more difficult to lock on to targets, particularly distant targets. The majority of reviewers didn’t find this to be a problem. However, those who complained that it was difficult to be steady enough to get a reading and those who found they had to double-check a yardage two or three times to make sure they hit the right object, would probably benefit from the stronger magnification found on more expensive models.

One thing we noticed was that this was not the first rangefinder for many of the reviewers. Those moving from GPS golf rangefinders to laser noted how nice it was not to have to pay fees and deal with computer downloads. They also liked knowing that it could be used on any golf course, not just those available through the device manufacturer.

Overall the users had many more positive things than negative to say about the Bushnell Medalist, but read our list of pros and cons to see for yourself. Just FYI, the #1 “PRO” in our list was mentioned nearly five times more than the #1 “CON“.

When we did our Leupold GX-1 Review, we definitely considered it one of the best values in a laser rangefinder, but we’re retiring that opinion as newer models perform better for about the same amount of money.

Bushnell PinPro Review

Our Bushnell PinPro Review is based on the small number of user reviews we could find on the web, along with our brief trial of this laser golf rangefinder. It reminded us of the Laser Link Red Hot in functionality, with its Red Dot sighting system. The PinPro features a single hand pistol grip that can lock onto a reflective prism from up to 330 yards. It can also lock onto a non-reflective target (such as trees) within 400 yards, but you have to bring it up to your eye to sight a non-reflective object and we found that it took two hands to hold it steady. Of the very few user reviews we found, a couple mentioned that they had trouble getting accurate readings.

Our opinion is that unless you find this device deeply discounted, there are better choices that are easier to use. It does work, but is not as easy to use as many others.

For our Laser Link Red Hot Review, we looked at user reviews and professional reviews from all over the web. In all honesty, we’re searching for reasons why anyone might prefer a Laser Link Red Hot to Callaway LR550 or a Bushnell Tour V2. There are very few user reviews available for the Red Hot, which we think is understandable, since we can’t imagine this is the best choice for most golfers.

Laser Link Red Hot User Rating: 4.13 Stars 4.13 out of 5 (12 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

Previous versions of Laser Link could only be used on golf courses that had flagsticks equipped with prisms. Given the price of these units, it was hard to imagine why anyone would have chosen a Laser Link over other traditional laser rangefinders. With laser rangefinders from Bushnell and Callaway, you look through a binocular or monocular type of eyepiece, aim it at any target you can see, push a button and within seconds, have the exact yardage to your target. That includes the face of a bunker, a tree at the corner of the fairway and the flagstick. With the old Laser Link Models, the only distance you can get is to the flag and that was only on golf courses that had a prism on the flagsticks. To be fair, there are players who mostly play only their home golf course and who have difficulty holding a traditional laser steady enough. For them, the older Laser Link models might have been an okay choice.

Back to the Red Hot Laser Link… this newest model from Laser Link, while still utilizing the prism system, can also get yardages to any visible target like a traditional laser golf rangefinder. So how does it stack up against the Callaway and Bushnell laser rangefinders? Well, for starters, the shape is very different and it’s bigger. For some users who struggle to keep a steady hand, the advantage probably goes to the Red Hot. Reviewers indicate there is an advantage when the prism is present, but we believe this to be true of all laser rangefinders. As of this writing, the Callaway LR550, the Bushnell Tour V2 and even the newly released Callaway Diablo Rangefinder are all smaller and less expensive than the Laser Link Red Hot. So in our opinion, Laser Link might be a better option for anyone who struggles with holding the smaller models steady, but for most golfers, we suggest trying the Callaway, Bushnell or Leupold laser rangefinders.
