That alone makes this the ideal pick for anyone who might struggle to see the numbers on other golf GPS devices. Honestly, it's just nicer to look at than others in this price range. We're also impressed by the rave reviews on battery life. Izzo claims 16 hours and users seem to agree. Although the Swami 6000 has a built-in scorecard, users struggled to use it. If you don't record your score before heading to the next tee, it forwards to the next hole and you can't go back until you're 60 yards down the next fairway. That's not exactly the perfect time to enter your score, so we don't recommend this model if scorekeeping is on your desired feature list. The price point on this model is perfect for what it offers. It's easy to see and easy to use. It also provides distances to hazards and doglegs and a strong magnet for mounting to your cart or the included belt clip.

Over the years, the one thing that GolfBuddy has done consistently well is to produce highly-rated, easy-to-use, voice golf GPS devices. We expect the GolfBuddy VoiceX will follow that pattern. The newest model released in late 2017 does add a few features not found on previous models, so we are anxious to see how users respond.

The feature we are most excited about is the automatic course updates via Bluetooth connectivity to your smartphone. When you arrive at the golf course and turn on the VoiceX, it will automatically check for updates and download them. If this feature works well, you’ll always be up-to-date without dealing with connecting it to your computer.

The GolfBuddy VoiceX also adds the ability to manually set the pin placements for more accurate distances to known pin locations. We don’t really think most users will use this feature, but for those who play on large greens, this may be an advantage.

GolfBuddy Voice X Big Numbers ModeWe like the new option to use Big Numbers Mode. For users who struggle to read the screen, this is a nice addition. In this mode, the shape of the green disappears from the screen, but if you can’t see it anyway, then it’s not really a sacrifice.

The GolfBuddy VoiceX may appeal to golfers who are also interested in an activity tracker for walking or running. The GPS tracker measures and records, time, pace, distance, elevation, and saves the information and the routes.

The question is whether or not GolfBuddy has implemented all of these new features on the VoiceX in a way that is still super easy to use. If you are a “wait and see” kind of shopper, you may want to go with the tried and true GolfBuddy Voice 2.
