This is our Bushnell Tour V4 Review for the standard version without Slope. If you are looking for the Slope model, see our Bushnell Tour V4 Shift Review.

Bushnell Tour V4 Jolt User Rating: 4.64 Stars 4.64 out of 5 (176 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

The Bushnell Tour V4 is the successor to the wildly successful Bushnell Tour V3. It’s a little bit smaller and has a cool new easy-to-use focus ring. This will likely be Bushnell’s top-selling laser rangefinder without Slope.

However, since the USGA has now allowed rangefinders where Slope can be turned off for competition, we expect Slope models with that capability to gain a piece of this market. The Bushnell Pro X2, the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift, and the Leupold GX-2i2 are three models you might want to consider if you desire a laser golf rangefinder that can be legal when it needs to be, but still has the Slope feature when you don’t!

Bushnell Tour V4 (Standard) Notable Features
  • PinSeeker with JOLT – provides short vibrating pulses to give a tactile confirmation that the laser has locked onto the flag.
  • 5x Magnification – brings the target in closer.
  • Fast focus system – allows you to change the focus easily with your index finger.
  • Ergonomic design with Stabi-Grip technology – more comfortable and secure grip.
  • Water resistant – no worries if you play in the rain.
  • 2 Year warranty
  • 3-Volt CR2 battery and premium carry case included

For our Bushnell Tour V4 Review, we tested it ourselves and read over 100 user reviews looking for common threads of praises or complaints. Here’s what we found:

  • Accuracy – Like most laser rangefinders, it’s accurate to within a yard or two. Users appreciated the accuracy over more often than any other attribute.
  • Ease of Use – The Bushnell V4 is easy to use if you have relatively steady hands. Most users agreed as this was the second most frequently mentioned positive factor. We did notice a couple of users struggled with holding it steady enough. If you are worried about it, consider the Bushnell Pro X2 or a golf GPS.
  • Compared to other models – This is our top pick for a rangefinder without Slope. Most users also found it better than the competition or models they had previously had.
  • Improves Game – Many users give credit to their laser rangefinders when they first start using one. The Bushnell Tour V4 is no exception!
  • Size / Weight – It’s compact and comfortable in the hand. Many users commented on these attributes.
  • Price – The price point is reasonable. There are less expensive rangefinders, from lesser-known manufacturers, but we give the performance edge to the Bushnell V4.
  • Features – There aren’t a lot of bells and whistles on the Tour V4, but it does it’s job well and Jolt technology is always a favorite feature on Bushnell rangefinders.
  • Speed – We agree with user positive comments regarding the speed of acquiring the target.
  • Clarity – The numbers aren’t that large on the display, but they are well placed and clear.
  • Case – It comes with a zipper case that can clip on your golf bag. This generally gets good reviews.

Bushnell Tour V4 Review (Standard Version) Summary

The reviews for the Tour V4 are very good and we give the edge to this model over comparable models from less expensive and less-known brands because it’s slightly easier to hit ground targets such as bunkers and layup points. It’s another solid performer from Bushnell at a reasonable price point and we don’t think you will be disappointed. The only regret we saw from some users was that they didn’t go ahead and get a model with a Slope feature that can be turned on and off. Specifically speaking, that would be the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift or the top of the line Bushnell Pro X2.

Our Bushnell Tour X Review is based on pros and cons reported by over 100 users. We look for recurring positive and negative themes within the reviews and summarize the results.

Bushnell Tour X User Rating: 4.66 Stars 4.66 out of 5 (222 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

First of all, this is the highest rated laser rangefinder that we’ve ever reviewed. What makes it stand out, even more, is that its price point is on the high side and usually that creates higher expectations which are seldom met.

In the case of the Bushnell Tour X, it seems that not only are expectations met but often exceeded!
Phrases like “best rangefinder I’ve ever owned” and “worth the money” were more the rule than the exception in the user feedback that we reviewed.

Bushnell Tour X Features
  • Exchange Technology – Allows you to use the Slope feature when you’re playing for fun and legally turn it off when you’re in competition. With Slope turned on, you can see the degree of elevation and an estimate of how much shorter or longer a shot will play.
  • Dual Display Technology – this is a fairly unique feature that gives the option to view red display numbers or black display numbers depending on the lighting conditions.
  • Pinseeker Jolt Technology – This gives a visual indication on the screen, plus a vibration when the target to the flag is locked on.
  • Magnification: 6x
  • Accuracy: measures to within 1/2 yard.

Below are the pros and cons mentioned by users. When reading these, keep in mind that nearly 90% of the comments we saw were positive.

Bushnell Tour X – PROS
  • Accuracy – Accuracy was mentioned nearly twice as many times as anything else, however accuracy is always the top mention in laser rangefinder reviews. Unless you have a defective unit, laser distances will be accurate to within a yard or two. This model even gives distances to within 1/2 yard.
  • Ease of Use – This was the second most common theme and although many reviews didn’t specifically mention it, the overwhelming enthusiasm found in many other reviews makes us believe that it must be among the easiest of laser rangefinders to get locked onto the target.
  • Better than the competition – There were many comments from users who were switching from other rangefinders and all but a couple were thrilled with the performance.
  • Price for Features – It surprised us to see how many people felt this was well worth the money. As always when a rangefinder is “high-end”, there were a few who make comments about it, but overall our impression is that this one truly is worth the extra money.
  • Dual Display Technology – Users really loved being able to easily switch the display color back and forth between black and red.
  • Game Improvement – Many users gave credit to the Bushnell Tour X for lowering their scores!
  • Size/Weight – Although this isn’t the smallest of rangefinders, overall the feedback was excellent.
  • Faceplate Exchange – Many users commented on how nice it was to be able to use the same device for competition as for practice and fun rounds. Simply change the faceplate to red to make it legal for competition.
  • Pinseeker Jolt – Many users seemed surprised at how much the Jolt reassured them that they had locked onto the target.
  • Speed – The speed at which the target was acquired was mentioned fairly often.
Bushnell Tour X Review – CONS
  • Price – Not surprisingly, the price was the biggest complaint… HOWEVER, we were shocked to see how many people felt it was well worth the money.
  • Pinseeker Jolt – There were a few complaints that the Jolt didn’t always work.
  • Display – A few users mentioned that the display was difficult to see in certain low light conditions. It wasn’t clear whether or not they adjusted the dual display or not.
  • Compared to Other Rangefinders – A few users felt that they had been happier with other Bushnell rangefinders.
  • Defective – There were a couple of users who felt they had defective models. One returned for a working model and the other did not say whether it was returned.

Honestly, this model isn’t for everyone. However, if you play in competitive events where slope rangefinders are not allowed, the Bushnell Tour X with Jolt should be at the top of your wishlist!

Bushnell V3 vs Z6

Bushnell V3 vs Z6
The article below compares the Bushnell V3 vs Z6 however, both of these models have been retired. If you are looking for current models, check out our Best Laser Rangefinder list!

If you’re trying to decide between the Bushnell V3 vs Z6, there are a few key differences to think about. First, there’s a big price difference. The Bushnell Tour Z6 with Jolt costs significantly more than the Tour V3. For the difference, the Z6 better be pretty special…

Admittedly, there are a few features that we really like on the Z6.

  • The Z6 has a 6x magnification level vs the 5x on the V3.
  • The Z6 can range the flag at 450 yards, while the V3 can only hit it at 300 yds.
  • The Z6 has VDT (Vivid Display Technology) that displays the information in red, which is easier to read than the black found on the V3.
  • The Z6 has ESP (Extreme, Speed, Precision), which makes it faster and precise down to the half yard.
    1. Frankly, we love all of those features and if price wasn’t a factor, it would be an easy choice. Both models now have Jolt technology which causes a vibrating burst in the unit when you’ve locked on to the target, but the most important thing to know is that BOTH OF THESE LASER RANGEFINDERS ARE ACCURATE. The Bushnell V3 is one of the highest rated golf rangefinders ever and it weighs less than the Z6.

Let’s just say that both of these rangefinders are excellent. The V3 is a better value, but the Z6 is a little easier to use, a little easier to read, and a little faster., Of course, if you’re a big hitter who needs to know those longer distances from time to time, the Z6 can deliver something that the V3 cannot – distances over 300 yards.

If you’re trying to justify spending the extra money for the Z6, think about this… Golf Rangefinders can last a very long time and the improvements you’ll see in this technology over the next decade isn’t really going to change that much. So if you buy the Z6 and use it for 5 years, the difference in price per year is incredibly low. And if your eyes happen to deteriorate in that time, or if you start hitting it longer and are driving those par 4s, the extra money will have been especially well spent!

Bushnell V2 vs V3

Both the Bushnell V2 and V3 have been retired. Check out the latest Bushnell Laser Golf Rangefinders!

Bushnell V2 vs V3Not so long ago, the decision on buying a Bushnell V2 vs V3 laser rangefinder was a more relevant discussion. The short story was that the V3 was newer and added one impressive new feature, but cost a little more. You made your decision based upon how much you valued the new feature (we’ll get to that in a minute). Now, the V2 is getting hard to find and when you do find it, the prices aren’t necessarily any better than the V3, making the decision pretty much a no-brainer.

However, if you happen to catch a great price the V2, then “Game On”! So what’s the difference? The Bushnell V3 has “Jolt” technology, which means the unit has a series of vibrating bursts when it locks on to the target, making it a little easier and faster to gain confidence that you’ve got the right distance. Other than a few cosmetic changes, these two models are nearly identical. Both the V2 and the V3 are available with and without slope.

Experienced laser rangefinder users may not be willing to pay much more for Jolt, but if you’re new to laser or have any trouble holding it steady, it’s probably worth the price difference to buy the Bushnell V3.

Bushnell Pro X7 Jolt User Rating: 4.69 Stars 4.69 out of 5 (66 reviews)

Score compiled from multiple sources.

For many, the price will be an instant deterrent for buying the Bushnell X7. However you should keep in mind that golf rangefinders can last for many, many years. The price per year will likely amount to less than a round or two of golf, no matter which model you choose. I personally own a Bushnell that has survived 17 years of heavy and not so gentle use. Although the technology has improved since then, the laser is still accurate.

Reasons the Bushnell Pro X7 Jolt might be worth the price:
  • It’s currently the only rangefinder being built with 7x magnification. Other rangefinders have anywhere from 0 – 6x and that extra zoom probably makes it easier to lock onto your target, as well as getting a more close up view of the terrain around your target.
  • It’s a little bigger than most rangefinders and can be held easily with two hands. This is probably the easiest model to hold steady, which is a big issue for some users.
  • It’s easier to read than many other rangefinders, because of Bushnell’s VDT technology. The readings show up in very clear red numbers that can be seen easily in any lighting conditions.
  • It has Bushnell’s newly developed E.S.P. 2 technology, which means it’s faster and more accurate than just about anything else on the market. E.S.P. stands for Extreme Speed Precision and this model can accurately give distance to 1/10 of a yard when it’s inside 200 yards.
  • Don’t forget about the Jolt! Once you’ve locked the target, the Bushnell Pro X7 gives off two short vibrating bursts, so you’ll know instantly that the Pinseeker has determined your distance.
